FEATURES OF AN ENTREPRENEUR



An Entrepreneur is an individual who establishes and manages an enterprise. Some features of an entrepreneur are explained below;

  •  Self-Confidence: 
The entrepreneur believes in him/herself and not of fate. The entrepreneur sees obstacles or difficulties to achieving goals as challenges which must be faced squarely. The entrepreneur maintains a high level of emotional stability in the case of difficulties and the entrepreneur is not afraid of making decisions.

  •  Risk Taking: 
An entrepreneur must calculate the risk involved in the business being undertaking, assess situations and focus special attention on the risk involved. The entrepreneur takes reasonable risk which provide reasonable and challenging changes of success. He or she should not be afraid but take responsibility for the outcome of his or her decision. 

  • Goal Orientation:
 Entrepreneur must be persistent, persevering and determined. Every entrepreneur should set measurable goals.

  •  Drive and Energy: 
An entrepreneur should not exhibit a high level of drive and energy. Entrepreneurship requires mental energy and long hours of work which involve planning, organizing, and coordinating and controlling of activities.

  •  Leadership
An entrepreneur should influence and guide people to accomplish goals. This function can only be effectively carried out by leaders. 

  • Creativity:
 An entrepreneur is innovative and he or she thinks differently from others. Such an individual will look for a need that is not specified and provide value proposition to satisfy that need. The entrepreneur is resourceful, versatile, knowledgeable and imaginative. 

  •  Aggressiveness: 
An entrepreneur must be aggressive especially in a challenging environment. He must however be courteous and he should equally possess a drive. 

  •  Ability to Find and Explore Opportunity:
 An entrepreneur is quick to identify and take advantage of opportunities; an entrepreneur is realistic and he or she plans and anticipates cheerfully achieving his or her goals and converts opportunities into advantages.

  •  Initiative: 
An entrepreneur is an individual who actively seeks and takes initiative, he does not wait for people to make decision for him, he fills leadership position where a vacuum exists. Flexibility: An entrepreneur has an open mind and does not hesitate in reversing his or her decisions in situations so demand. He will evaluate his decision carefully.
